Not every integrator can sell Trinnov. In fact, most can't.

Trinnov Audio doesn't distribute through the usual channels. You can't apply online, fill out a form, and get approved in 48 hours. They're selective deliberately so  because the quality of their dealer network directly reflects the quality of their brand. A Trinnov installation done wrong is worse than no Trinnov at all.

​That's why I called them.

After 25 years designing and installing home theaters in the Seattle-Tacoma area, I've seen every category of audio processor on the market. Anthem. Marantz. Denon. Yamaha. Some of them are excellent products at their price point. But when clients are investing $80,000, $95,000, or more into a dedicated theater with Theory Audio amplifiers and speakers, a JVC RS4200 8K projector, and full Dolby Atmos layouts, the processor is the brain of the entire system. And I wasn't willing to put a good-but-not-great brain into a world-class room.

Trinnov is what the best mixing studios in Hollywood run. It's what commercial Dolby Atmos cinemas use for calibration references. The Optimizer technology is in a category by itself. When I saw the Altitude CI at CEDIA 2025, I knew it was exactly what my high-end theater clients deserved.

​So I picked up the phone.

Becoming an authorized Trinnov dealer isn't a transaction. It's a vetting process. I had to speak directly with their head of sales, and that conversation wasn't a formality.

They wanted to know who I was. What my background looked like. Whether I had the technical foundation to actually deliver on what Trinnov promises at the point of installation and calibration. A processor this sophisticated in the hands of someone who doesn't understand room acoustics at a deep level isn't going to perform the way it should. Trinnov knows that, and they protect their reputation accordingly.

What I brought to that conversation was 25 years of real-world experience, an engineer's approach to system design, and certifications specific to exactly what Trinnov does. THX, ISF (Imaging Science Foundation) for video calibration, and HAA (Home Acoustic Alliance) certification for audio calibration. I also brought personal relationships with recognized leaders in the custom installation industry, people whose names carry weight in this space and who know the quality of work we do.

​That combination was what got me in. And I'm proud of that, because it means my clients are getting a dealer Trinnov specifically approved, not one who just signed up.

There is currently no other authorized Trinnov dealer in the South Sound area. If you're in Tacoma, Gig Harbor, Olympia, Puyallup, or the surrounding communities and you want a legitimate Trinnov installation, properly sold, properly installed, and properly calibrated, Hutter Home Theater is your only option.

That's not something I say to be boastful. It's practically relevant information if you're planning a serious theater build. Purchasing Trinnov through an unauthorized channel means no manufacturer support, no warranty protection, and no dealer relationship to call when something needs attention two years after installation.

​It also means working with someone who hasn't been vetted to sell the product. The calibration piece alone is reason enough to care about that distinction. Running a Trinnov Optimizer correctly requires interpreting what the 3D measurements are telling you, knowing when to accept the system's recommendations and when to apply judgment, and having a level of acoustic knowledge that most AV installers simply don't have.

Let me be direct about the comparison. For a typical media room or a modest theater build, Anthem's ARC Genesis or Dirac Live in a Marantz or Denon processor delivers real value. These are legitimate products that improve on doing nothing.

But at the level where clients are building dedicated rooms with professional-grade speakers, acoustic treatments, and immersive Atmos layouts, the performance gap between those solutions and Trinnov is significant and audible.

The difference starts with the measurement microphone. Trinnov uses a proprietary 3D microphone that captures spatial information including height, width, and depth that a single-point measurement system can't see. The correction algorithms then address time alignment, phase coherence, frequency response, and speaker positioning simultaneously, across every channel in a full Atmos layout.

The result isn't just better bass or smoother frequency response. It's a wider, more stable soundstage. More precise dialogue localization in Atmos content. A listening experience where the room disappears and the sound just exists around you, which is exactly what a room at this level should deliver.

One of the most compelling aspects of the Altitude CI is that it's software-defined by design. Clients license only the channels their room actually needs. You're not paying for 32 channels to build a 16-channel Atmos layout. And as rooms grow or evolve, the hardware doesn't need to be swapped out. You simply expand the license. For clients investing at this level, that's a significant advantage both financially and practically.

​No other processor on the residential market does this as well as Trinnov. That's not opinion. It's why the mixing engineers who create the content you watch at home use Trinnov to calibrate their studios.

Right now I have a theater in progress with $95,000 in equipment and installation, Theory Audio amplifiers and speakers throughout, and JVC's flagship DLA-RS4200 8K projector, waiting on the Trinnov Altitude CI to ship. The entire system was designed around what the Altitude CI will do to that room once it's calibrated.

When it's done, it will be one of the finest home theaters in the South Sound. Not because of any single component, but because every element including the speakers, the projector, the processor, and the calibration was chosen and executed at the highest level.
